Shirak International Airport (LWN) sits a few kilometers from the city center. Direct international routes are limited and seasonal, so most travelers still fly into Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport and continue overland. Airport transfers into central Gyumri take under 15 minutes.

The M1 highway from Yerevan is the fastest road route, with stops possible in Ashtarak and other villages along the way.

Yes β Gyumri is considered safe for travelers. Of course, always use your own judgement when traveling anywhere in the world as standard precautions.
Some larger hotels and tour operators may accept USD, but the Armenian Dram is the standard currency almost everywhere β plan to pay in AMD.
Debit or Credit Cards are widely accepted in the city, but small vendors, markets, and rural stops often expect cash β carry some AMD. We recommend exchanging currency in the city, rather than airports to get the best rate possible.
Gyumri sits at altitude and winters are cold, with regular snow and temperatures well below freezing β pack accordingly.
Yes β trains, buses, and taxis connect Gyumri with Yerevan and beyond, and our tours include transportation.
At hotels and with tour guides, yes. Elsewhere it's less common, though many young people speak some English so you should be able to find your way around without issues.
